Afterwords runs evening talks from experts in New York. This page explains what we collect when you join the founding list, why, and how to have it deleted. Questions go to support@itsafterwords.com.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you join the founding list.
- Your phone number, only if you choose to add it, along with your agreement to receive texts about new events. Reply STOP to any text to stop them.
- Your answers to the optional questions about subjects, timing and price, if you answer them.
- A referral code for you, and the code of the person who invited you, if you arrived through a friend.
- The campaign tags on the link you clicked, including advertising click ids, and the page you came from. This is how we know which ad or post found you.
- Anonymous counts of pages viewed and things clicked, labelled with a random id for the visit rather than anything that identifies you.
Cookies and advertising
We advertise on Instagram and Facebook, so our pages load Meta’s advertising pixel. It sets cookies and tells Meta that a page was viewed, and that a sign-up happened, so we can tell which ads actually bring people in. When you sign up, the pixel also sends Meta a scrambled (hashed) form of your email address, made in your browser, which Meta uses only to match the sign-up to the ad you saw. We never send Meta your email address itself, your phone number or your answers.
You can limit this through your browser’s cookie settings, a tracker blocker, or the ad preferences in your Meta account. The site works the same either way. The only other cookie we set is a sign-in cookie for our own staff using the admin pages.
How we use it
To tell you when the first season is announced and when seats open, to text you if you asked for that, to shape the programme around what people said they wanted, and to measure our advertising. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else to market to you.
We use other companies to run the site: a hosting provider, a database provider, an email provider and the advertising platforms above. They handle the information only to provide those services to us.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until we close the founding list and no longer need it. Ask any time and we will remove your record.
Your choices
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Texts stop when you reply STOP. To see a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, email support@itsafterwords.com from the address you signed up with and we will confirm when it is done.
Other things worth saying
Our programming is for adults, and the founding list is not meant for children. If this page changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell the list by email.
